FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Everything people ask about Taculator 84 — straight answers, including the ones about exams.

What is Taculator 84?

A full-featured graphing calculator app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android. It uses the familiar key layout and equation syntax of a classic classroom graphing calculator and covers Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics — graphing, tables, solver, matrices, distributions, and regressions included.

Which platforms does it run on?

iPhone, iPad, and Mac via the App Store, and Android phones and tablets via Google Play.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The calculator works fully offline — no account, no sign-in, no internet connection required.

Can I use Taculator 84 instead of my TI-84?

For homework, classwork, and studying: yes — same key layout, same syntax, same course coverage. For standardized tests like the SAT and ACT, phone apps are not permitted; you need an approved handheld there. Full comparison.

Is it allowed on the SAT, ACT, or class exams?

Phones and phone apps are not permitted on the SAT or ACT — the digital SAT has a calculator built into its testing app, and approved handhelds may be brought. For class exams, your teacher decides. Taculator 84 is designed for homework, classwork, and studying.

How much does it cost?

The app is free to download, and core graphing is included for free. The advanced feature set — Taculator Pro — is a one-time $29.99 lifetime purchase (or a subscription at $2.99 / 3 months or $7.99/year, with a 7-day free trial). That's a fraction of the $100–150 a new handheld costs, with no handheld to lose and no batteries to buy. For schools and districts, the full app is completely free.

How do schools get it for classroom iPads?

Free of charge: request access with your Apple Organization ID. The app is distributed through Apple Custom Apps, appears in Apps and Books in Apple School Manager at no cost, and is assigned to managed iPads via your MDM. No student accounts or license codes needed. Step-by-step guide for schools.

I have a license code from an earlier school purchase. Still valid?

Yes, existing license codes keep working. New institutional access runs through the free Apple Custom Apps program instead — request access with your Organization ID and we'll migrate your deployment.

Is there a manual or guidebook?

Yes — the Taculator Guidebook, available as a printed book and Kindle e-book on Amazon. It explains every function needed for high school and college with easy-to-follow key-press sequences and worked examples.
